Flipkart and Snapdeal backed, offline gaming products startup, MadRat Games, has launched a wearable gaming platform for kids & families at Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2016 in Vegas.

The gaming platform SuperSuit is said to be world’s first wearable gaming platform that reduces screen time, increases social interaction, physical activities and takes kids & families outdoors to play with each other.

SuperSuit has two units named Vest and Glove. The Vest records hits & displays scores in form of lights, audio and haptic feedback, whereas Glove enables the interactivity between players with triggers to send beams. It incorporates a proprietary gesture engine which allows a wide range of gestures which trigger special powers, creating the charm of telekinesis!

Additionally, the system supports external ‘Bots’ to be connected to and controlled by it. SuperSuit’s SDK allows developers to create new games too. Its smartphone app allows the parents to monitor children’s fitness data & track their location through bluetooth – which is also used for downloading new titles, upgrade firmware and maintain player profile and data.

The team at MadRat said that the gaming platform is designed for the ‘Third Space’- a space which is between the screen-dominated indoors & the vanishing outdoors.

Rajat Dhariwal, founder at MadRat Games said, “SuperSuit aims to take away kids from screen dominated games. For children, outdoor play is already the favourite mode – they are unable to do that due to shrinking outdoors in cities & urban spaces and restrictions on them due to safety concerns in suburbs. There is a growing feeling of restraint & lack of freedom, and kids can claim that freedom back with SuperSuit.”

Flipkart founders Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal invested about $ 1 Mn (INR 6.2 Cr) in November 2014 while Snapdeal’s founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal invested about $168K (INR 1.8 Cr.) in July 2015.

Rajat Dhariwal along with his team Madhumita Halder and Manuj Dhariwal founded MadRat in 2010. The startup initially built offline educational games such as board games, learning puzzles, toys and mobile games.
