Bangalore-based Lookup, a free and secure messaging app that connects shoppers with local businesses, has tied up Twitter to launch @lookuplite for live, public conversations on Twitter’s platform.

In this, users have to Tweet their requests like booking appointments, ordering food, enquiring about products to @lookuplite, and Lookup will monitor those tweets and send solutions within minutes.  Users can even send a direct message to this twitter handle and chat in a private message.

The startup already has platforms like SMS and mobile app available on Android and iOS through which the startup disrupts local commerce in India. With this collaboration, Lookup has integrated Twitter account by the handle @lookuplite to answer people’s queries.

Deepak Ravindran, co-founder and CEO of Lookup said that Twitter is one of the most popular social media in the world and a real-time communications platform, which cannot be overlooked owing to the company’s on-demand local commerce service.

Twitter is reported to have over 320 Mn users all over the world, out of which, Lookup claims that large number is of Lookup users as well. With Lookup on board, millions of Indians in Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi NCR and Pune will be able to avail services like home delivery, make reservations, book appointments, get information on store deals, and much more over a tweet.

Earlier in October this year, Lookup had raised $2.5 Mn in Series A round led by Khosla Impact along with participation from Twitter’s co-founder Biz Stone and others. Going forward, the startup plans to introduce more categories, payment options, NLP/Artificial Intelligence, deep linking to other apps and add a virtual store on its platform for vendors to sell through Lookup.
