Delhi-based Little Black Book (LBB), a local discovery platform, has raised raised $1.2 Mn from IDG Ventures India and Indian Angel Network.

Founded in 2012 by Suchita Salwan and Dhruv Mathur, Little Black Book gives curated cultural and lifestyle guide to places in Delhi, Gurgaon and Bangalore. It covers a wide spectrum of interests from consumers that includes food, events, travel, adventure, lifestyle and shopping, among others. Little Black Book (LBB) claims to reach out to over 1Mn users across web and app currently.

LBB uses content as a medium to drive an engaged audience to local enterprises, places and experiences. It partners with local, small and medium scale brands along with global brands including Coca Cola, Airbnb, HTC, Samsung, Nestle in order to engage with local audience.

Suchita Salwan, founder & CEO of Little Black Book (LBB), said, “We have proven that urban consumers want to move beyond traditional Yelp-esque listing and aggregator platforms; they seek more than just food and event discoveries. As a media-tech business, our north star has been driving not just monthly active users, but delivering a product that draws a highly engaged and sticky audience.”

It plans to utilise the funds for technology expansion and talent acquisition along with expanding its base to other cities.

Earlier in April 2015, the startup raised $150K in seed funding from Rajan Anandan, Sachin Bhatia, and the Singapore Angel Network. It also launched its Android and iOS apps in the same year.
