Indian Express Digital Launches Smartphone Review Platform Techook

Publication major Indian Express Digital has launched a stack-based portal for tech gadgets, Techook. The platform aims to simplify the process of buying a smartphone and is enabled with a card-based User Interface for both, desktop and mobile.

The platform claims to focus on ensuring information credibility and data-backed review processes for gadgets. As per an official statement, all smartphones undergo comprehensive reviews to produce a detailed performance review. It also attaches a numeric rating to all the smartphones reviewed over a seven-day long period.

Leveraging on technology, the website has divided smartphones in different categories, ensuring ease of access and discoverability to the users. It will also offer news and how-to tutorial videos for its readers.

Commenting on the launch, Sandeep Amar, CEO, Indian Express Digital, said, “Techook is one of the most innovative media launches in India. The design and UI is totally unique, along with the most comprehensive analysis of each and every feature and specification of mobile phones (to begin with). Techook will make decision making for buying mobile phones easier than ever before. The stack-based platform in the Indian scenario will be the most unique and user-friendly UI. We are confident of creating great user value with comprehensive content around mobile phones and in the future, around other gadgets. This will be an ad-free product, and user experience will be of the highest standard.”

Its technology will also allow users to navigate within various pages, without leaving the current page. It claims to have an ad-free, swipe-based layout. Techook also plans to add more review categories in the future in addition to smartphones.

In August 2015, One97 Communications invested undisclosed amount in a new round of funding in NDTV’s ecommerce venture for gadgets, Gadgets 360°.

Techook will compete with other popular gadget review portals including Digit, Gadget Review, TechRadar, and The Verge amongst others.
