Stay Ahead With Daily News & Analysis on India’s Tech & Startup Economy
Mumbai-based iChef.in, a gourmet meals startup, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Springboard Ventures, an investment company of media house Times Group’s holding company Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd (BCCL).
Founded in 2014 by Chirag Arya, iChef, is operated by Arya Food and Packaging Pvt Ltd. The startup delivers ready-to-cook gourmet recipes with pre-portioned fresh ingredients. Users can order ingredients according to the dish they pick from their menu.
Currently, the company is operational in Mumbai only. However, it is also planning to stretch its service in 10 other cities in next 18 to 24 months.
Here’s how it works:
BCCL targets firms with consumer products or services that require advertising. It uses its ad space in various media properties as a currency to pick stakes in small, medium as well as large companies.
Few other players operating in this space include Gurgaon-based Bite Club, Yumist and Bangalore-based SpoonJoy.
