Jaipur-based Houssup, an ecommerce platform for interior design, has raised an undisclosed amount of angel round funding from Mitin Patel (MD, Prima Automation) and Gaurav Agarwal. Mitin Patel will join the board.

Houssup was founded in 2016 by Hemant Singh, Devendra Baghel, Shubham Trivedi, Pranjal Gupta, Sameera YVS and Raghav Mundra. The startup will use the raised capital to scale up its operations and enhance its technology.

The whole idea of starting this venture came into being after Hemant’s dad bought a house and assigned him to furnish it, he realised it was a different ball game altogether.

Like Hemant, his other friends had also faced the same problem in some or the other way, the daily hassle of dealing with carpenters, getting exact fixtures for wardrobes, and getting all the elements to come together just the way they wanted. So, this is where Hemant with his IIT friends decided to put an end to this problem and started with his venture Houssup.

Houssup.com is an end to end ecommerce platform for interiror design where one can personalise interior designs selected from an inventory of design templates, visualise it in 3-D and then order the entire room online. Apart from this, one can also purchase individual furniture items from the design. “We have designers for modern to contemporary from classical to quirky, catering all age groups” said Sneha Sameera, co-founder and heading the design department in Houssup.

The startup is empowering the designers as well as consumers through technologies like AR, VR and AI, so that the complete process of designing can be much more time and cost-efficient. It is targeting the masses, where houses come in the range of INR 40 lakhs to INR 1 Cr.

“Houssup is design oriented and technology enabled solution for end to end home furnishings and interior design. We want to hand hold the customer, make him visualise the design into his space and finally implement the exact look on just a click. We are bridging the gap between design inspiration and implementation through Augmented Reality & Artificial Intelligence,” said Raghav Mundra, co-founder and responsible for sales and marketing at Houssup.

How it works

Houssup offers an interactive and user-friendly platform wherein users can browse through a plethora of interior design templates, make a mood board according to their taste, get up to 5 quotations based on the mood board, get the chosen design visualised through the platform’s Augmented Reality gadget before implementation, and finally DIY or hire an interior designer to complete the project on just a click.

Currently, the startup is witnessing a gross transaction value (GTV) of INR 26 lacs a month, and in the next one year, it is planning to reach a GTV of INR 12.5 Cr. a month. “Our strong GTV ensures we have superior cash flows in hand, along with the GTV we set premium designers on boarding, number of unique visitors, subscribers and the AR content as our KPI’s on which we have significant growth since we launched four months back,” claimed the company.

Houssup is also in talks to raise a Pre-Seed funding round this year, followed by $2 Mn in Seed round for which the team is already in contact with strategic industry leaders and VCs.

In home decor space, last year Bangalore-based home design & decor startup, LivSpace raised $8 Mn in a funding round, and another home solutions startup Homelane closed a $50 Mn in a funding round.

While earlier this year, another Bangalore-based online interior home decor and furnishing company, Mygubbi.com raised $2.5 Mn in a seed funding from angel investors led by Vipul Parekh, co-founder of Big Basket, Ananda Kallugadde, co-founder of NeoBytes and Rajesh K Murthy, EVP of Infosys.
