Highway Delite, Tech Startup Focused On Indian Highways, Raises Pre-Seed Funding

Bangalore-based Highway Delite, a tech startup focused on Indian highways, has raised an undisclosed amount of pre-seed funding from N.S. Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning, the incubation unit of IIM Bangalore.

Founded in 2015 by Rajesh Kumar, Highway Delite aims to solve problems faced by commuters on Indian highways by providing verified and reviewed database of restaurants and other necessary services required while commuting, i.e., medical facilities, petrol stations, repair shops, toilets, lodge/hotels, etc., through a mobile application which provides real-time information. Currently, the app is available on Google’s Android platform.

“They (Highway Delite) are addressing an opportunity in the travel discovery and delivery space which no one else is addressing,” said G Sabarinathan, faculty member at IIMB. He further added, “Travelling the highways to gather information and rating critical services available there requires lot of hard work.”

Highway Delite is looking to verify the services available on highways and aims to cover about 2.25 lakh kms. “Our approach is to verify highway services and provide safe and hygienic options to travellers,” said Rajesh. He realised the problem during a consulting job with rating agency ICRA, which made him travel into the deep pockets of India.
