Bangalore-based health content portal and queries platform, Modasta, has reportedly raised $1.5 Mn (about INR 10 Cr) from Mauritius-based high net worth individuals (HNIs).

Modasta was founded in 2015 by former Accenture and Yahoo executive Bikram Barman and his wife Dr Geethanjali Barman, along with IIM alumnus Pankaj Pandey.

Modasta provides access to quality health information through articles and videos. It covers a range of health-related content, curated by Indian doctors, across five regional languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam along with English. Modasta’s platform uses digital platform to provide value to consumers, enrich the user experience and thus transform healthcare digitally. It also has health forums to exchange knowledge and experiences.

The startup plans to use the funds for business growth, technology upgradation, talent acquisition and marketing outreach activities. The startup is also looking to expand its range of offerings to include tele-health comprising online doctor consultation services. It has a medical and technology team of 50 employees.

The startups has managed to secure over one million monthly  visitors within three months of the launch.
