Health & Fitness App HealthifyMe Raises $6 Mn From IDG, Inventus & Blume Ventures

Bangalore-based health and fitness app HealthifyMe has raised $6 Mn (INR 40 Cr) in Series A round of funding led by IDG Ventures India, Inventus Capital, and Blume Ventures.

Founded in 2012 by Tushar Vashist and Sachin Shenoy, HealthifyMe is a health and wellness company that helps people lose weight through its program. It uses a combination of cloud-powered software, wearable devices & human assistance (nutritionists, trainers and yoga instructors) to help people reach their fitness goals. It boasts of the world’s largest database of Indian foods and syncs with all leading wearables including Fitbit, YuFit, MiBand amongst others.

Tushar Vashisht, founder and CEO of HealthifyMe said, “Our vision is to make healthy living easy, fun and affordable for all. With these funds, we plan to impact 5 Mn users and tie up with over 500 corporate and healthcare partners.”

The startup plans to use the newly raised capital to further develop its digital coaching platform and to accelerate growth in India. It has partnered with healthcare providers such as Medanta, Apollo and Manipal to employ its app-based services in treating & preventing clinical obesity, diabetes, and other lifestyle diseases.

Prior to this, HealthifyMe raised two rounds to close its seed round in 2015. In May 2015, Micromax made a strategic investment in the digital fitness provider. While, the second round of funding it raised from angel investors Gopal Srinivasan, Sashi Reddi, Amit Gupta, Pallav Nadhani, and Dr. Roopa Nath among others.

The startup is in competition with other fitness platforms like FeetApart, FitCircle and Obino. FeetApart raised an undisclosed amount of angel funding from Nielsen Singapore’s executive, Vishal Bali, and other angel investors.
