Bangalore-based conversational mcommerce startup, Goodbox, has acquired SmartPocket for an undisclosed amount.

SmartPocket is a Bangalore-based mobile aggregator platform founded in July 2013, by Mayank Shah and Kiran Shastri. It provides offline businesses a channel to transact, connect and engage with their customers. Post acquisition, the co-founders will join the leadership team at Goodbox.

Kiran Shastri, CEO & co-founder of SmartPocket said “At Smartpocket, we wanted to create a marketplace with a focus on repeat business and customer loyalty through a digital wallet. We will now look to bring that mindset, technology and expertise with us into Goodbox. ”

SmartPocket is a mobile technology platform that connects offline businesses to customers. It can convert a mobile device into a singular channel for all card transactions by managing a user’s loyalty cards on the phone.

On the other hand, Goodbox is a chat-based commerce platform that enables small businesses to become ecommerce ready through its app. It was founded in 2015 by Mohit Maheshwari, Abey Zachariah, Mahesh Herle, Nithin Chandra, Anand Kelaginamani, Mayank Bidawatka and Charan Shetty. The users can seamlessly discover, order and make payments. Consumers can buy directly over messaging from their trusted stores across multiple categories without having to download multiple apps.

Prior to this, in November last year, Goodbox raised about $2.5 Mn (INR 16.51 Cr.) in Series A round from Nexus Venture Partners.
