Online aggregator of budget salons, GlamStudios, has raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from former Rategain COO Aqeel Ahmed.
The startup was recently launched to offer premium beauty services at affordable rates. It is creating a tech-driven chain of budget salons through aggregation, standardisation and brand association. It will use the raised capital in reaching out to around 5,000 customers, and create a network of 30 salons within the next three months. The startup also intends to develop a mobile app.
GlamStudios was started in 2015 by Sadiya Naseem, an ex-member of OYO Rooms leadership team, along with NIFT graduate Darakhshan and IIT Delhi graduate Feeroz.
Sadiya Naseem, founder and CEO of GlamStudios said, “We are neither competing with on-demand home services nor with other organised salon chains as they offer premium services while we offer affordable yet high service standards. As the industry is evolving remarkably, our company is uniquely poised to tap into this fast-growing opportunity.”
The startup chain currently has 10 operational salons across NCR. It claims that it serviced 150 clients and sold 200 yearly memberships on its first day of operations.
Sadiya added, “Salons as small as 500 sq feet can signup as GlamStudios without any capital expenditure. We bring about a two-fold standardisation in the operational processes of salons that signup – firstly infrastructural and aesthetic changes to the property to brand them as GlamStudios. We train its staff and offer its CRM software to fully automate the operations and quality-of-services rendered.”
According to a report, India’s beauty and wellness market would be INR 80,370 Cr by 2017-18.
