Mumbai-based Moodoo, a get-together app, has raised about $28K in seed round funding from the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School Seed Fund.

The funding will be used towards marketing the app launch in Mumbai, London and Oxford.

Lucy Gadkari, co-founder of Modoo said, “We are thrilled as a team to receive the funding from the University of Oxford. Not only is the financial injection really important to us at this stage but it was also fantastic to receive product validation from such a knowledgeable and dynamic team. Their continued support is really valuable to us.”

Founded in September 2014, by Lucy Gadkari and Vaibhav Sinha, Moodoo will be launched on January 20th in Mumbai. The UK launch is scheduled for February.

The app will help arrange spontaneous meet-ups by helping the users discover nearby friends that are interested in the same activity as the user. The app is available on both Android and iOS platforms.

The new entrant will face competition from other community solution providers such as 123Signup, Meetup and Community Solution.
