Digital food community, Food Talk India, has raised a seed investment of $500K from a private investor.

With the raised funds Food Talk will launch its new product, ‘Food Talk Plus’, a hyperlocal dish discovery mobile app.

Food Talk India is one of the Social Food Community situated in Delhi, where member’s read and share their genuine food experiences. It has over 2 lakh likes on Facebook, more than 83K followers on Twitter and over 100K followers on Instagram.

Food Talk India is leveraging this outreach to become a strong platform in the digital marketing space for lifestyle and food brands. The company has signed a deal with Star to become the exclusive digital partner for MasterChef Australia season 7 in India.

Also, Food Talk India is teaming up with one of India’s largest production and entertainment companies to curate a one of a kind food and lifestyle festival in December.

Food Talk India was started in 2013 by Shuchir Suri with a personal instinct of insatiable appetite to innovate technology. Shuchir, who was client servicing personnel at JWT WPP, built a community where people would share real authentic stories over food.

Food Talk India is a crowd sourced online platform, where users share culinary adventures, post food and restaurant reviews and discover new places and food to eat, in real time.

It is an invite only community on Facebook that leverages technology and data science with its own technology team. It also curates series of innovative food events at venues across India.

Another Delhi-based social media food group, EatTreat, had secured $350K funding to launch its website and build proprietary content of tested recipes and quality articles related to food.
