Food safety regulator, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has launched a mobile app that will allow consumers to raise concerns related to food safety.
According to the description of the mobile app launched by FSSAI,
Most of the times the form of food consumed is either packed or serviced. Through the app, consumers can check different parameters on which the food safety is compromised for both packaged foods and food served in ready-to-eat establishments.
The app provides food safety tips and food safety laws as prescribed by the regulator through its regulations.
The food safety regulator has launched the app with an aim to enable consumers to check parameters, like FSSAI licence number, registration number, manufacturing date, expiry date, etc., on which food safety is compromised for both packaged foods and ready-to-eat foods.
The Android app, which has in-built geolocation functionality, allows consumers to raise/share any bad food incident along with photos.
It also allows a consumer to enter FSSAI-issued license/registration number, if available, to get an accurate information about the food business operator’s adherence to food safety requirements.
