Hyderabad-based Flatpebble, an online marketplace for hiring high quality photographers, videographers, stylists and other service providers, has raised $600K in funding round from Indian Angel Network’s Sanjay Jesrani and Subram Kapoor.

Flatpebble was founded in 2013 by Venkatesan Seshadri and Pranav Mehta. The startup acts as a link between skilled professionals and customers seeking for professionals. On one side, it lets service providers in the events & lifestyle space get connected to customers. On the other side, customers can get access to skilled professionals in different domains.

Currently, it has over 2500 photographers and other service professionals.

The startup will use the funds to innovate product, increase supply depth as well as expand into other categories. Also, Sanjay and Subram will be joining the board of the company.

How it works:

The app allows users to post jobs for free & receive visual portfolios, detailed quotes from interested photographers. One can communicate with photographers via app, call or email to make hiring easier. It also acts as an escrow by protecting both parties with advance payments till the start of the event.

In this space, last year, Delhi-based online marketplace for entertainers and party planners, Gigstart, had raised $210K in seed funding from a group of investors, including Snapdeal’s co-founders Rohit Bansal & Kunal Bahl. Another Bangalore-based professional services marketplace, Qyk, that aims at providing a solution to hire local service provider had raised undisclosed amount of angel funding.
