Delhi-based online education startup EduKart, that helps students in connecting with educational institutions has raised $1 Mn in a fresh round of funding from cricket legend Yuvraj Singh’s venture capital fund YouWeCan Ventures, United Finsec with the participation of 500 Startups.

Founded in 2011 by Ishan Gupta and Mayank Gupta (No longer with the company), Edukart is an online platform that helps in enrollment into online and distance degree, diploma and certificate courses. It helps in applying to online, distance and correspondence degree and diploma courses like MBA, Executive MBA, PGDM, MCA, M.Sc. IT, MA, MCom, BBA, BCA, BA, BCom and B.Sc. IT and more.

The company is aiming to enroll 100,000 students per year in next three years. The startup is also looking forward to list 10,000 courses and 500 course providers on the marketplace in the near future.

The startup had previously raised $500k in seed round led by a group of angels including Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Amit and Arihant Patni, and Manish Kheterpal among others who also participated in this round of funding.

On this development, Ishan Gupta, co-founder and chief executive of EduKart said, “India’s education industry continues to be an extremely fragmented market. We are hoping to provide students with far greater depth through EduKart.”

The funds will be used in expansion of its team, in areas such as marketing, technology and the startup will also be working to bring more courses and course providers on their portal. Currently, it has 2,000 courses listed on its platform working with about 90+ educational organisations which includes coaching centres, universities and institutions like Indian School of Business and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies.
