Customers who order goods from ecommerce sites can now get their orders delivered at 10 Delhi-Metro stations from February 2016 onwards.
This comes as a relief to consumers who shop from ecommerce sites, but are unavailable at home during the time of delivery. They can now get the orders delivered to a preferred station and can collect them later, at their convenience.
The service will be available at MG Road, HUDA City Centre, Noida Sector 18, Laxmi Nagar, Vaishali, Nehru Place, Dwarka Sector 9, Kashmere Gate, Rajiv Chowk and GTB Nagar.
“This is a move to provide last-mile delivery option to the customers of e-tailers which will act as a revenue generation model for DMRC as we are providing the space for setting up these kiosks,” a metro official told HT.
At the time of the purchase, the customers will have an option to opt for delivery of their merchandise at designated terminals. They will then be given a unique identity number (One Time Password) via SMS or email after confirmation of purchase. Customers will be able to collect their orders by providing the password to the staff.
An option of ‘payment on delivery’ will also be provided to the customers. Customers can pay through credit or debit cards at these automated parcel delivery terminals.
The officials did not name any ecommerce sites as the details are being worked out.
