Chat-based daily tasks management app dunzo has raised $650K (around INR4.4 Cr) in pre-Series A round of funding led by Aspada Investment Advisors and Blume Ventures. Rajan Anandan and Sandipan Chattopadhyay also participated in this round.
Dunzo was started in 2015 by Ankur Aggarwal, Dalvir Suri, Mukund Jha and Kabeer Biswas. The startup has a chat-based interface that allows users to create to-do lists and collaborate with partners (vendors) to get them done. It leverages AI (artificial intelligence) and human operators in providing solutions for consumers’ everyday task. Currently, it has a monthly run rate of 10,000 ‘moments of consumer delight’.
Dunzo currently provides solutions in four categories – shipping packages, buying, repairing stuff and home services.
Chat-based personal assistant apps are catching up fast in India. These apps are using chat to disrupt local commerce in the country, which is estimated to be a $750 Bn industry. Established players in this segment include Haptik, HelpChat and Lookup. Apart from that, a number of startups, like Joe Hukum, Niki.ai, Zootout, Instagetit.in, Goodservice, Hike’s personal assistant bot Natasha, have recently entered this domain. Last year, Facebook also launched its personal assistant bot, M, to disrupt the virtual assistance space.
