Chennai-based DriversKart has acquired an on-demand chauffeur aggregator startup Driven, in an equity and cash deal.
Where on one side consumers are using cab services, carpooling and public transport as the means of convenience for transportation, the Mumbai-based startup, Driven, is of the concept to let consumers use their own cars with the help of temporary drivers or chauffeurs. Founded by five friends from BITS GoaGot, Arun Gandhi, Aman Sancheti, Gaurav Deshmukh, Nikhil Tavora, and Shivalik Sen, Driven was established to provide drivers on demand at an economical rate.
DriversKart’s co-founder and CEO Vinit Srivastava said that there is immediate value in this deal for DriversKart. “We get access to a team which was equally excited and passionate about this space and has had tremendous learnings in short span of time”, he added.
With the acquisition, DriversKart aims to become the market leader in India’s on-demand driver marketplace. It will further strengthen its presence in Mumbai and get access to Driven’s 150 driver partners servicing 1000 customers a month.
DriversKart was started in September 2015 by Vinit Srivastava and Saksham Grover. The Chennai-based startup also provides on-demand chauffeur service while operating in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Chennai. It claims to serve 10,000 rides a month. It provides chauffeur for the self-drive car rental company for Zoomcar, Justride, among others. The startup that recently raised an undisclosed amount of Pre-Series A funding, competes with the likes of DriveU, Zimmber, Zuver and Driver Bulao.
