Stay Ahead With Daily News & Analysis on India’s Tech & Startup Economy
Mumbai-based food-tech startup, DishCo, an app that allows users to book restaurant tables & discover signature dishes has raised an undisclosed amount of angel funding from Mahindra Group’s Anand Mahindra, Punj Lloyd’s Uday Punj, Bookmyshow’s Ashish Hemrajani and Goldman Sach’s Sanjeev Mehra.
Food Marshal Tech Services Pvt Ltd owned DishCo was founded by Jamshed Pesi Shaw and Fida Jamshed Shaw.
Unlike other food startups that either charge commission from the restaurants for the orders sourced through them or for delivering food to customers, DishCo offers listing and ranking service for free and only has a fixed subscription fee for restaurants who opt for booking tables, offering coupons and other value-added services.
It also provides users with location-specific deals & coupons.
Currently, DishCo is operational only in Maharashtra and Goa and will soon expand into Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore. The company has more than 8,500 restaurants listed on its app.
Shaw, founder of Food Marshal that owns DishCo told ET that, “Instead of consumers to review restaurants or their menu without understanding the nuances of hospitality industry, DishCo will let consumers find and rank dishes without any reviews and offer a host of services such as coupons, deliveries, wallet time and in-line feedback.”
Shaw also runs Shaw-Man Software, which provides technology services to hospitality brands such as Taj, Indigo, Blue Foods and others.
Few other food-tech include Zomato, TinyOwl and Swiggy among others.
