The Delhi Transport Department has decided to join a scorn petition filed against Ola in Delhi High Court. This move comes after the judge had asked the state government to file a status report on the ban issued on the taxi aggregator.
According to a senior commissioner at the Delhi Transport Department
Ola has constantly declined to obey the High Court orders on the ban, which is why the contempt petition was filed against the cab hailing service.
The Association of Radio Taxis of India has filed a petition against Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO of ANI Technologies that runs Ola and some of the company’s directors as per the evidence of invoices of trips taken on their platform on August 13 and 14, 2015.
The ban came from the Delhi High Court on July 29, ordering Ola to restrict its operations in the capital. As a consequence of which diesel taxis were barred from making point-to-point rides within the city.
The ban directed the Delhi government to strictly enforce the ban order issued on January 1 on radio cab services which are not yet registered under the umbrella of radio taxi scheme and running on diesel.
Complying with the Delhi High Court orders to have taxis with single fuel model, Ola is expanding its fleet of CNG vehicles with addition of 3,000 cars this week.
Softbank-backed Ola, which has a fleet of 25,000 registered cabs in the capital, is also in talks with manufacturers and dealers to help the driver partners exchange their old diesel-run cars with CNG vehicles.
