Committed to help create a more peaceful, sustainable, happier, and healthy world, wellness guru Deepak Chopra has joined hands with former Nortel and Motorola executive Poonacha Machaiah to launch Jiyo, a health and wellness startup.
Bangalore-based Jiyo is a personal wellbeing companion. Its comprehensive digital platform lets users engage, learn, and interact with a diverse range of articles, videos, and reminders that helps in being your best self.
Jiyo’s intuitive technology tracks users behavior and then offers insights and suggestions based on their habits. Besides useful content and encouraging reminders, it also believes in fostering community and hence lets you connect to world leaders and experts in wellbeing, and also allows to create bonds with like-minded people who use Jiyo.
In simple terms, Jiyo is a community-based, wellbeing network that provides awareness to consumers about stress-related and lifestyle diseases in particular, such as diabetes among others.
“We see ourselves as creating a social platform, which is global, but also facilitates physical spaces that has everything to do with prevention and treatment of chronic illnesses,” Chopra told ET. He further added, “By creating these virtual experiences, you can change your biology or even change the expression of your genes.”
The Jiyo platform also connects users to medical experts, and has tied up with a number of fitness and lifestyle experts as well, who can provide users with dietary and exercise tips. Recently, the startup partnered with super-speciality hospital chain Apollo Hospitals.
Jiyo’s has a subscription-based revenue model, and has also tied up with noted non-profit, academic medical centre, Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi, and is targeting a million users within the year. It is accessible through web as well as through app; iOS and Android.
