New Delhi-based Cross Roads India Assistance, popularly known as CRIA, has acquired based MeriCAR.com, a marketplace and aggregator for the after sales automotive for an undisclosed amount.
MeriCAR.com was started in 2008 by Rakesh Sidana to help car owners search for the right car servicing and repair centre, locally. It solves the problem of locating a nearby workshop or mechanic (applicablewithin a radius of 20 km) through GPS, when a car breaks down at an unknown place while travelling. Before acquisitions, the startup was reported to have 22 offices and 35 entrepreneur franchisee partners across India.
The startup has secured an undisclosed amount of funding in two rounds. The first one was from My First Cheque and the second from Rajan Anandan. It was even looking to raise a larger funding round in the future.
Whereas, Cross Roads, a roadside assistance service provider, said that it is looking out for tie-ups with the ongoing expressway projects in Uttar Pradesh for providing the services, this year. It presently serves 1,500 repairs a day to both cars and two-wheelers. Currently, it owns 30,000 partner network and aims to reach the 50,000 mark by 2017. It is also planning to enter the market from Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Allahabad and Varanasi in the first phase of its expansion.
