Canvs.in, an online community of designers and artists, has received an undisclosed investment from Pratik Seal, former CMO at Housing.com.
Canvs was founded in 2015 by a trio of IIT Bombay alumni, Debprotim Roy, Ankit Agarwal, and Vikash Choudhary.
It aims to target existing and budding talent from across industries like advertising, marketing, and entertainment, providing them a platform to showcase their talent and connect with like-minded individuals.
According to a company statement, Canvs currently hosts the portfolios of over 6,500 designers from across all design fields. It allows users to connect, find work opportunities, and work with firms having relevant design requirements.
Talking about the investment Pratik Seal said, “Canvs.in is a unique concept aimed at building a single point accessibility unit for the design community of India. It is one of the few startups breaking the clutter by offering something fresh and creative instead of providing run-of-the-mill innovative solutions. I am extremely excited about Canvs.in, and impressed with what it has achieved in a short span of 16 months. I am confident that it will go a long way in streamlining creative processes on an online medium to harness the power of the community, while tapping the multi-billion dollar-strong design industry of India.”
Seal is currently the Group CMO at AGS Transact Technologies Limited where he manages marketing, communication, product strategies, UI/UX, perception management, media, go-to-market initiatives, and strategic alliances for the corporate brand, its subsidiaries, associate companies and brands.
Prior to this, Canvs had received an investment of about INR 1 Cr from multiple HNIs.
Earlier this week, Bharat Sethi, founder and CEO of PosterGully, launched iDecorama, a technology-enabled online platform that offers interior designing. In August 2016, Sumit Gandhi and Manish Gandhi, promoters of Asian Business Exhibitions and Conferences (ABEC), acquired online art marketplace PosterGully for an undisclosed amount.
