Zone Startups India, a venture fund and accelerator housed at the BSE will expand its accelerator space, with the support of the National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Government of India.
The grant from NSTEDB will be used to expand the current operating space at the BSE in Mumbai, and to support a larger number of startups and entrepreneurs.
BSE Institute will also set up a new center in collaboration with Ryerson Futures Inc (Toronto), the technical arm of Ryerson University, Canada. It will be a soft-landing hub for international tech startups seeking to expand into Mumbai, India. The new accelerator will focus on scalable, technology startups and will aim to recreate Digital Media Zone (DMZ) – Ryerson’s flagship program in Toronto.
Matt Saunders, President of Ryerson Futures Inc said, “We are pleased to announce the expansion of our accelerator space, with the support of National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, Government of India. We look forward to assisting many more early stage technology companies in their market validation and customer acquisition phase.”
The initiative is in line with the Startup India mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BSE Institute will also launch new programs targeted at student entrepreneurs and women entrepreneurs.
Started in February of 2014, Zone Startups India accelerates technology startups, with a focus on enterprise technologies and has accelerated over 60 startups. Prior to this, in December 2015, it raised about $28 Mn registered with SEBI.
