Fashion content blog BandraRoad has launched its online store. The online store will offer ‘Comfort Wear’ in quintessential styles for men and women, with shipping across India.

BandraRoad was founded by Fashion Model Surelee Joseph and Stylist Marvin D’Souza, along with Sujal Shah (co-founder FREECULTR & CXO at MissMalini Media).

How BandraRoad Started

In 2014, Sujal approached MissMalini with an idea to create a fashion content vertical and brand from the ground up. He wanted to see if he could create a brand from user demand and with little investment. Malini, a social media and content jedi, ceased the opportunity. BandraRoads was then launched as a fashion content vertical on the MissMalini platform.

Over that time, BandraRoad delivered hundreds of original content pieces covering street style, in the form of shopping, celebrity profiles, trend stories, how-tos/DIYs, fashion weeks from around the world.

From Content To eStore

After being a content first platform for over a year generating revenue from the blog, the team decided to launch the online store. At this point founder, Sujal Shah, invested an undisclosed amount in the fashion portal to create inventory.

As part of its first collection, BandraRoad is currently offering seven styles for men and women across tops and bottoms, all priced with INR 499 to INR 1899.

Talking about the platform, founder and investor Sujal Shah said, “BandraRoad solves the unfulfilled consumer need in the domestic market to find stylish, comfortable, and trendy comfort wear. Worldwide, joggers have exploded in retail stores over the past two years, with prices going up to $200 in premium retail. BandraRoad is poised to define the ‘Jogger’ category in India.”

According to the founders, BandraRoad’s fashion aesthetic spans bohemian meets vintage to rock chic, but is accessible and valuable to almost every consumer category.

Prior to this, last week, fashion app WithMe raised $250K funding from angel investors including Alex Kuruvilla (MD, CondeNast), Pradeep Guha (former head, Zee Group and TOI) and Saket Dhankar (Head of Lakme Fashion Week). Apart from ecommerce biggies like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Amazon, other players in the fashion retail segment include Voonik,Purplle, Roposo, etc.
