Finding potential flatmates is no doubt a cumbersome task for anyone. Adding on finding those matches based on location and requirement too is a bit difficult. Keeping these problems in mind Gaurav Munjal along with Hemesh Singh had launched Flatchat, a mobile only app for students and bachelors to find accommodation and flat mates six months back. The startup, today, has raised $2.5 Mn in funding from CommonFloor.com.
Flatchat is a broker free platform which connects one with Flats (owners) and Flatmates without having to go through Brokers. To use the Flatchat app one just need a Facebook profile to get started. When someone posts a requirement, Flatchat shows matches according to needs. Then one can chat with these matches and take it ahead.
Currently, its services is available in Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad.
The company plans to make its product team stronger by hiring the best product and engineering talent with the raised funds. The funds will be further be used to scale up operations and establishing foothold across the country especially in the cities which have a higher population of students and bachelors.
Few facts
- Flatchat has crossed 50,000+ users across both Android and iOS platforms, with 80% of the traffic coming from Android.
- More than 350,000 messages were exchanged on the platform last month
- The platform is witnessing growth of 100% MOM.
