In the latest development, ecommerce giant Amazon India is now entering the vertical of at-home beauty services, as per a report by Next Big What.

According to its official website, Amazon India will offer a slew of services, including pedicure, manicure, waxing, and threading across 15 localities in Bengaluru. Under this new initiative, users can order and schedule professional in-home beauty services. The professionals will be sourced through third-party service providers.

Users have to pay upfront for the service and can schedule the appointment between 9AM to 6PM. The company currently provides only online payment options and will soon offer cash-on-delivery options as well. The services are currently available only for women customers. Users can also seek same-day appointments which would start in four hours from the time of booking.

Amazon India has previously backed hyperlocal services company Housejoy in December 2015, and retail gift card startup QwikCilver in 2014.

Hyperlocal services major Quikr acquired in-home beauty service provider, Salosa in May. In August, it acquired on-demand beauty, wellness, and fitness app ZapLuk. In September 2016, Quikr’s beauty services brand AtHomeDiva acquired Bengaluru-based mobile marketplace for beauty services, StayGlad.

Earlier today Inc42 reported that Amazon invested a fresh capital of $296 Mn (INR 2,010 Cr) in its main Indian unit, making it the single-largest capital in the ecommerce sector infusion so far. Earlier last week, it also announced the launch of its Prime Video service in India.
