Airbus Bizlab Bengaluru has launched the second season of its startup accelerator programme today. It has shortlisted six Indian startups for the same.

The programme, announced last November, will support innovative startups in the field of robotics, IoT, data analytics, image processing, VR/AR, fintech, supply chain, door-to-door mobility (passenger experience), gaming, aviation products and services, drones, manufacturing, airport management, space technologies and solutions.

A total of seven startups have been selected for the second season, out of 137 applicants from nine countries. Out of these seven, five are from Bengaluru, one from Mumbai and one from Singapore.

The startups from Bengaluru include:

Earth2Orbit, which creates data products that use satellite imagery to provide location-specific commercial, economic, environmental, and social information.

eFlight which offers information such as fuel burn and air traffic control plans to a pilot on board from its app or website–a pilot can even get ATC clearance via SMS.

Neewee, which uses the Internet of Things to diagnose problems with an aircraft.

Stelae Technologies which uses artificial intelligence (AI) software to manage and structure data.

SYmbosim which provides solutions for the design of composite materials and structure used to make planes.

Meanwhile, the startup selected from Mumbai is Accelo, which provides safety solutions based on AI and Singapore’s Innovative Binaries, which provides an AI platform for data which would help maintenance of aircraft

Bruno Gutierres, Global Head Airbus BizLab stated, “Each startup we have selected carries the potential to shape the future of aerospace. Our job is to help them realise their potential.”

Airbus BizLab is a global aerospace business accelerator with facilities in Toulouse (France) and Hamburg (Germany) besides Bengaluru, where startups and Airbus “intrapreneurs” (internal entrepreneurs) can work together to speed up transforming their innovative ideas into valuable businesses.

It offers wide-ranging support to selected early-stage projects in the form of a 6-month acceleration programme. The companies have access to a number of Airbus coaches, technical and business experts and mentors in various domains, free hosting, and a Demo Day with Airbus decision makers, venture capitalists, Airbus customers, and partners.

Airbus BizLab is relatively a new initiative from Airbus that aims at bringing external innovation from startups into the Airbus ecosystem. The first BizLab was set up in Toulouse, France in March 2015 and since then; two more BizLabs have come into existence – one in Hamburg, Germany and another in Bengaluru, India.
