Bangalore-based online health and wellness startup, CureJoy, has raised $1.15 Mn funding in their Pre-Series A round of funding led by Accel Partners, India. The funds will be used to further expand its services in India and abroad. The startup will also be using funds to expand its team.

The round also saw participation of serial entrepreneurs Subrata Mitra, Larry Braitman (Founder of Flycast & Adify), Venk Krishnan (Founder and CEO of Nuware Technologies) and others.

Headquartered in the US and operating from Bangalore, CureJoy is an online destination for natural health and wellness, where people can find fresh and credible content, answers to regularly asked health questions and health advice from experts.

The company is founded by Dikshant Dave and Shrinivasa Sharma in October, 2013. It aims to address the common concerns of people in the existing healthcare system.

The present healthcare system doesn’t provide with solutions to many dominant health conditions. Many a times, one is forced to take a painkiller and repress the symptoms which generally leads to larger and more serious issues over a period of time.

The CureJoy platform tries to tackle this concern by providing curated content through its backend algorithms and technology on natural health and wellness by experts. These experts are usually associated with large universities like Stanford or UCLA. Most of the content is based on the present day needs of quick consumption of the common man. The platform also provides an opportunity for natural and alternative health care experts to reach out to relevant users who are seeking genuine help and advice.

CureJoy has grown by almost 100% Q-on-Q over the last 6 quarters and claims to receive 1 Mn visitors to its website every month. Within 6 months of its launch, the number of visitors has expanded to 8 Mn. It also runs an active and vibrant Facebook community with about 2.7 Mn users, which makes it among the top three companies globally, in terms of Facebook engagement.

In the next 6-8 quarters, CureJoy aims to reach out to 50 Mn users including countries like Germany, Spain, France etc., with localized content available in multiple languages. Dave says, “We have seen a tremendous growth over the last six quarters and we consider this to be the right time to scale our operations in order to cement our position as the fastest growing company in the online health and wellness segment.”

Users can access CureJoy both on internet and through mobile app.
