4 Startups Raise $29K Each In TiE SmashUp Hyderabad

In the recent SmashUp event organized by The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Hyderabad, four startups managed to raise a seed funding of about $29K each (INR 20 Lakh) for an exchange of 10% equity stake.

These include telehealth platform for sexual health, CupidCare, diagnostic and therapy platform, Theranosis Life Sciences, Fruit and vegetable disinfectant product by Green Pyramid Biotech, and mobile newspaper app, Newsdash.

The startups got funding from investors like Unitus Seed Fund, 50K Ventures, Anthill Ventures, Saha Fund, Indian Angel Network, Hyderabad Angels, and Parampara Fund.

Startup name: CupidCare

Founder(s): Krishna Teja Korrapati, Sriram Varma

Founded in: 2016

Funding: $29K

Hyderabad-based CupidCare is a virtual sexual health clinic that connects patients with board-certified physicians for the remote diagnosis and treatment of regular sexual health conditions. It uses telehealth platform to consult specialists like Sexologists, Psychologists, Dermatologists, Gynecologists, and book diagnostic tests at user’s convenience.

Founder(s): Mike Raghavan, Shibichakravarthy Kannan, Madhavi Muranjan

Founded in: 2016

Funding: $29K

Hyderabad-based Theranosis Life Sciences is a personalized medicine startup developing in-vitro diagnostics for cancer. The iotech R&D startup harnesses the power of Asia’s largest biobank of patient-derived tumor tissues and India’s BioIT S/W Skills to develop & deliver novel theranostic products for the Global Market & Clinical Diagnostic Services to the Indian market.

Startup name: Green Pyramid Biotech

Founder(s): Mihir Mehta, Rajesh Mehta, Ajinkya Prabhune

Founded in: 2015

Funding: $29K

Pune-based Green Pyramid Biotech. Pvt. Ltd, (GPB) aims to develop and commercialise innovative products, based on compositions/formulations of bio-surfactants, at affordable costs. It will focus on products with specific emphasis on fruit and vegetable cleaning/disinfecting products.The startup is created under Lab2Mkt Programme of the Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC).

Founder(s): Prahal Ghai, Antesh Bharadwaj

Founded in: 2015

Funding: $29K

Hyderabad-based Newsdash specialises in bringing newspapers and newsletters on mobile. It believes that the e-paper edition of newspapers does not work for mobile as it is just an image of the newspaper page, therefore it lacks the complete cohesive daily update that the newspaper provides.
