With 39K operational startups and 1.3 Bn people, India is becoming the fastest growing market for businesses. With growing business and competition, staying ahead is critical. One of the key catalysts for this is the cloud infrastructure partners which a startup chooses to work with especially in their early-stage of growth.

‘Cloud partners today have become the fulcrum for businesses, especially startups.’

Developers are increasingly looking for easy-to-use, cost-effective cloud solutions, and more. New York head-quartered DigitalOcean, which launched its datacenter in India in 2016, is becoming one of the preferred cloud partners for thousands of startups in the country.

To understand the reason for this growing relationship between Indian startups and DigitalOcean, we caught up with a few customers of DigitalOcean for a chat.

Palkush Rai Chawla, cofounder of Bengaluru-based Elanic — a social marketplace to buy or sell fashion-related products — explained that the main reason behind them choosing DigitalOcean is their developer-friendly monitoring and alert features. These features help startups even with a team of two or three developers in managing 100% uptime of the website. He also added that DigitalOcean’s predictable pricing and billing is another key attraction for using their platform.

Anshul Saxena, cofounder and CEO of Noida based HaltDos, a startup offering cybersecurity solutions and services, echoed a similar sentiment and emphasised on how trust was the basic requisite for his customers who rely on the startup for their security and web operations; implying that the platform which HaltDos chooses should be equally reliable.

On the other hand, Pranay Sharma – Founder, ParkZap Labs, a startup offering parking and tolling solutions uses several products & features of DigitalOcean including Droplets (virtual machines), image creation, and the DNS management system provided by DigitalOcean. Given the nature of their business, they cannot afford to have any downtime and DigitalOcean’s reliability and uptimes have been a huge plus for them.

Whether it is an ecommerce startup or an IT security provider – web uptime, and secure cloud solutions are more than necessary for a startup. Although the sector is filled with players such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, IBM and Oracle, DigitalOcean is making a mark among startup hubs across the globe for its easy-to-use solutions and competitive pricing. Moreover, their initiatives such as the Hatch programme, regular meetups and engagement activities for startups in India and overseas are making it the go-to choice for developers who are building modern applications on the cloud.
