In a strategic move, Zomato has joined hands with Uber to allow its users to book cabs to visit restaurants of their choice using the Zomato app. Diners will be instantly able to see the estimated pickup time, fare and travel time to the restaurant they are looking up, from their current location. The feature is live for users in 27 cities across 13 countries, with more cities to come in the future.

The cities in which users will be able to book rides include US, India, Australia, Canada, the UK, South Africa, UAE, New Zealand among others. The feature was launched in London and South Africa last week.

Users will be able to see Uber right next to the address of the restaurant. This update makes it easier to get moving and check out all the hottest new eateries in your city.

“Zomato has been helping foodies discover scintillating new spots in their cities since 2008. Now, we’re thrilled to expand this integration with the Zomato team to make that experience easier and more delectable than ever. We are looking forward to finding new and innovative ways to partner with Zomato to create a seamless experience for our riders and make the world’s cities more enjoyable and accessible,” Uber said.

With this, Uber is also likely to offer free rides worth INR 400 in India exclusively to cafes and lounges listed on Zomato. Whereas in the US, users may get free rides worth up to $20 to the restaurants listed on Zomato.

Recently, Uber has also announced partnership with ticket booking website BookMyShow to give viewers free rides to Indian Premier League matches.

On the other side, Zomato has also announced that it will be introducing table booking service in July with its acquisition of US-based NexTable.
