Food delivery major Zomato has relaunched its loyalty program, Zomato Gold, replacing the Pro Plus membership that was discontinued in August 2022. While the Zomato Gold membership is not available for users for the time being, it is said to be coming soon.

For now, users can only ask to be notified once the membership programme is available on the app. Users with the Pro Plus membership at present will receive a three-month complimentary Zomato Gold membership, according to the information available on the company’s app.

The development comes a month after it was widely reported that the foodtech major was revamping its loyalty programme to reintroduce it soon.

The listed foodtech startup has launched the service with an introductory price of INR 149 for three months. However, the company has not revealed the price for an annual subscription yet, or whether such a plan would be available initially.

According to the information available on Zomato’s app, there are several benefits that the users receive under the Zomato Gold membership.

First, all the food deliveries from restaurants within 10 kilometres would be free for Gold users, provided the order is worth more than INR 199.

To be sure, the listed foodtech’s major competitor, Swiggy, also offers a similar benefit to Swiggy One users, who can avail of free deliveries on orders worth more than INR 199 from restaurants within 10 kilometres of their delivery address.

Further, Zomato will offer a ‘no delay guarantee’ to Gold subscribers, which will see users get an INR 100 coupon instantly if an order is delayed beyond its promised delivery time.

Gold users can also avail of ‘VIP access’ during rush hour. Under the ‘VIP access’, the Gold subscribers will get priority over normal users in getting access to busy restaurants during rush hours.

Apart from all the delivery benefits, Zomato Gold users will get additional discounts of up to 30% at more than 20,000 restaurants across the country. Zomato Gold will also offer discounts of up to 40% across 10,000 restaurants while dining out.

Zomato, the most downloaded food delivery app across the world in 2022, recently rebranded its 10-minute food delivery service Zomato Instant. Zomato Instant delivers about 20-30 dishes, based on demand predictability and hyperlocal preferences, in 10 minutes from Zomato’s finishing stations to customers living in a radius of not more than two kilometres from the stations.

The foodtech major has been struggling with poor stock market performance and the recent exits of key managerial personnel over the past few months.

Cofounder and CTO Gunjan Patidar, cofounder Mohit Gupta, head of new initiatives Rahul Ganjoo and vice-president of global growth Siddharth Jhawar have all left the company in the past two months.

At market close on Tuesday (January 24), Zomato’s shares were priced at INR 52 apiece, nearly 2% higher than the previous close.
