Zippr, an app that shortens one’s address into short codes which can be shared in form of links has received angel funding of INR 6 Cr. from Indian Angel Network and a few other investors.

Zippr app which is currently available on Google play store and iOS store is a central location management service that enables users to create and share short codes (Zipprs e.g. ABCD1234) with friends or vendors to avoid low value conversations around finding an address.

Creating a Zippr is extremely easy, click the add location tile on the Zippr app and you will be able to see where you are on a map. You can save your current location, or use search to find another area, scroll to that location, and tap at a point you would like to save. You may want to fill the details about your address as additional info could help someone who intends to find you, but you will never need to enter it again.

One can send the id to friends in the form of SMS, mails or even Whatsapp messages, relatives and customers, instead of giving them directions over phone.

The moment they get the link, they can click on it and it shows a Google map to the address no matter from where they open the link.

Here is how it works

“We are going to focus on pushing quicker consumer adoption through offline activation and scaling technology infrastructure. We will also increase the size of the team,” Aditya Vuchi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Zippr.

The company has recently tied up with 108 (emergency service) for helping the victims in an accident or passersby to quickly create the Zippr codes, allowing the ambulances reach the spot much quicker.

Zippr was founded by Aditya in May 2013 in a small garage office in Hyderabad, India and went live in the form of a mobile app in Dec 2013.
