Content Is The King: Digital Media Startup ZenParent Raises $500k In Seed Funding From i2india Ventures

Bangalore-based ZenParent, a digital media company targeting  parents, has raised $500k (INR 3.17Cr. ) from i2india Ventures to ramp up operations and expand beyond Bangalore. The company, which has mobile and web presence, provides parenting tips and resources for the New-Age Parent, including everything from holistic upbringing and weekend events to easy recipes and family bonding ideas. The content is written by about 15 people, who are experts in parenting.

“There is no one single source of great content for parents in the Indian context. So we decided to start this,” said Supriya Hiremagalur, CEO of ZenParent.

ZenParent is a mobile application that aims at providing a one-stop-solution to the parents with hands-on answers to help resolve any parenting query. It covers all aspects of child’s life such as personality, interests or life skills.

i2india is an early stage seed funding,Technology Commercialization and Incubation firm based out of Bangalore. I2india was created on foundational investments by Imperial Innovations Plc UK (The technology transfer arm of Imperial College, London), CMG Partners UK (led by successful Indian entrepreneur Chris Mathias) and various leading Indian industry leaders and experts such as Tata Sons.

“It’s very different from existing solutions. It is personalised and contextual. The firm caters to over 70-odd personas of parents, based on lifestyle, kids preferences,” said Vinay Rao, partner at i2india Ventures.

ParentsIndia, India Parenting and Parentune are the other similar portals on parenting  in India.

Very recently, another online media startup, TheBetterIndia has raised undisclosed amount of funding from former Infosys CFO and Chairman of Manipal Global Education, Mohandas Pai.
