New Delhi-based website performance testing startup, Wingify, has announced the launch of PushCrew , a product that will enable websites to send push notifications to their visitors, helping them build in time and contextual connect with their users.

PushCrew will help digital businesses engage with website visitors via push notifications, which will be delivered even when the visitors are not on the website.

For better understanding, push notification is a delivery of information sent directly to the browsers or mobile phones from push services like Apple’s APNS (Apple Push Notification Service) or Google’s GCM (Google Cloud Messaging). The notification consists of text message  to the uniquely identified devices, whether the device is online or offline.

There are various products that enable notifications for apps or only for HTTPS/SSL enabled websites. However, PushCrew can work across all devices such as desktops, tablets and mobile phones and on any website. The product can send notifications to Safari and Chrome browsers, with soon extending its support for Firefox and Internet Explorer.

With PuchCrew, Wingify claims to have solved one of the biggest dilemmas that modern day marketing managers face, that is whether to build a native app to drive engagement or build a mobile website to ensure reach. PushCrew enables a business to use their mobile website, the same way as they would use their app for sending personalised, real-time notifications to their users.

Paras Chopra, founder & CEO of Wingify said, “Email marketing is facing decreasing open rates and click rates because users’ inboxes are flooding with. Anyone with an email address can send an email to it and this leads to spam. However, push notifications is strictly opt-in, which means that the control stays with the users, and hence click rates are higher. Push notifications are also useful for information that is disposable in nature. For example, some use cases where PushCrew shines: a discount coupon that expires in a couple of hours or an offer from an eCommerce store, breaking news or financial/stock updates, or sports/event progress, an alert or message from a SaaS service. For all such purposes, PushCrew is perfect because it is permission-based, low friction real time communication channel between businesses and users. Some of the early adopters of PushCrew have seen opt-in rates as high as 40% and unprecedented click rates of over 20% ”.

Paras added that PushCrew was soft-launched in August 2015, and has attracted hundreds of businesses who collectively send more than 100K notifications per day, without any marketing. The early adopters of the product include BuyWholeFoods which generated additional revenue through push notifications and Freeflys that saw an average click rate of 12% on their notifications.

Founded in 2009 by Paras Chopra, Wingify is a SaaS-based company whose flagship product, Visual Website Optimizer (VWO), is one of the leading website testing platforms. It is said to be used by more than 4,000 brands across 90+ countries to analyse web activity and increase conversions. Last month,  Visual Website Optimizer (VWO), had acquired US-based Navilytics, a visitor analytics solution.
