Warner Music India has acquired E-Positive, an artist management company, to strengthen its presence in the country’s independent music space. The acquisition will allow the artist on the rolls of E-Positive to leverage Warner Music India’s expertise in brand partnerships and live events.
Under the deal, E-Positive will continue to operate on a standalone basis and will be led by the founder and CEO, Naushad Khan. Meanwhile, E-Positive will also continue to hold ‘Indie Music Label’ as part of its holdings.
As per a company statement, the move will bring singer Darshan Raval, who is managed by E-Positive, into the fold of Warner Music India.
“Naushad Khan has done an incredible job of positioning E-Positive as a leading management company and his knowledge in brand partnerships and the live sector will be a great asset for us at Warner Music India. And it’s a privilege to welcome such a phenomenal artist like Darshan Raval into the global Warner Music family…,” said Warner Music India managing director Jay Mehta.
Commenting on the announcement, Khan said, “This is an exciting day in the journey of E-Positive… I’m delighted that we’ve found a new home at Warner Music India. The team at Warner Music India will help us grow in the international market and will help our artists connect with more fans from around the world. We’re looking forward to the next chapter of E-Positive.”
With this, Warner Music India could be looking to expand its library of music and artists in the country. In addition, the deal will also help the US-based music giant to enhance its offerings to artists and leverage synergies with E-Positive.
“Our improved suite of services will enable our artists to transcend the whole of India and help bring Indian culture to the rest of the world,” the company mentioned in a statement.
This comes seven months after Warner Music India signed a pact to acquire a majority stake in a Chennai-based digital media and music company, Divo, to bolster its presence in the South Indian markets.
US-based Warner Music Group (WMG) forayed into India in 2020 and established Warner Music India in April 2020. Since its launch, the music giant has signed a licensing agreement with music label Tips Music to expand its local music library.
Apart from that, Warner Music India has also sharpened its regional focus and has onboarded artists such as Diljit Dosanjh, Armaan Malik, KING, Aastha Gill, and Srushti Tawade.
It also signed an exclusive strategic partnership with digital entertainment and technology company JetSynthesys in 2021 to strengthen its presence in India.
As per a report, the Indian media and entertainment industry is projected to touch a market size of $55 Bn to $65 Bn by 2030.
