Upskilling startup Oneistox has raised seed funding of $1.2 Mn from Y Combinator, Powerhouse Ventures, and Soma Capital. Amit Ranjan, cofounder of SlideShare, and Deepak Menon, VP, Microsoft also took part in the funding round.

The startup said that it aims to revolutionise the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry by imparting skills to employees.

Oneistox offers a range of courses and upskilling, tailor-made programs for AEC professionals to help them build industry-relevant new-age skills and stay ahead of the curve.

Oneistox said though the AEC industry makes up 12% of the world’s GDP, it is one of the least digitised industries.

Founded by Harkunwar Singh, Vipanchi Handa, Mehul Kumar, and Chaithanya Murali in 2019, the startup targets enabling working professionals of the AEC industry with digital skills and help them maximise their potential. Oneistox aims to bridge the gap between traditional AEC education and the fast-evolving technological landscape, empowering learners to become future-ready professionals.

Commenting on the AEC industry, Harkunwar Singh, cofounder, Oneistox said, “The AEC industry is ripe for disruption, and Oneistox aims at leading the charge with cutting-edge upskilling courses.”

Before this, Oneistox had raised a total of $125K in two rounds from Powerhouse Ventures and Y Combinator in 2021.

Though the overall weather of the Indian edtech market looks gloomy currently, upskilling platforms for businesses are attracting investors’ attention. The funding in upskilling startups rose 62% YoY from $61.3 Mn raised in 2021 to $165 Mn in 2022.

Last month, upGrad raised INR 300 Cr via a rights issue, seven months after it raised $210 Mn (around INR 1,728 Cr). Before that, Cusmat secured $3.5 Mn Series A funding. Another skilling platform Masai School ended 2022 with a $4.77 Mn fundraise, in October 2022.

Coursera, Udemy, EdX, SkillShare, etc are some other startups offering skill development services and courses in India.
