Looking at Ola & Taxiforsure, Uber has just started auto booking facility for its customers through the app. Started with Delhi, Uber plans to kickstart auto booking in other states as well.
Just last week, Uber was in news rumored to be launching auto booking service.
Named as UberAUTO, customers will now get a option to book a auto when they use the app. The company said that it will be “a cash-only service for now,” with fares calculated using existing transport regulations.
“When it comes to getting around Delhi, auto-rickshaws are a staple. We recognise the history and value of autos to the transportation landscape. For us, uberAUTO is another way of using technology to offer more choice, making life simpler and keep Delhi moving,” Uber said in a blog post.
Further, the company said the passengers will not have to pay booking fees or a service charge on top of the fare.
On the other side, Ola, which launched auto booking service last year in November, currently has over 40,000 autos on its platform and in Delhi alone, Ola has 5000 autos, making it the largest player in this segment in Delhi. Currently, Ola has auto booking facility in 6 cities which are Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Bangalore.
