Homegrown mid-market private equity firm TVS Capital Funds has further strengthened its leadership team with two key elevations in the top-deck as an effort to drive growth.

The Chennai-based firm has elevated two of its senior executives Rajalakshmi Vaidyanathan and Suraj Majee to the roles of Principal and Vice President, respectively.

The move will help the firm to invest in financial services at a time when it raised commitments for its fund IV.

Vaidyanathan joined the firm as Vice President in August 2019. She has long been associated with banking and finance as she had previously worked with L&T (Larsen & Toubro) Infrastructure Finance, SBI Capital Markets and Barclays Bank PLC.

“Aligned with the firm’s mission of supporting NextGen entrepreneurs in building enduring businesses, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for us in our fourth fund and beyond,” said Vaidyanathan.

Majee who entered TVS Capital Funds in 2016 as analyst was promoted to the role of associate vice president last year and now vice president.

Majee said, “I look forward to uncovering the next decadal opportunities, and help next generation entrepreneurs to build and scale businesses which can outlive their generation.”

Krishna Ramachandran managing partner, COO and CFO at TVS Capital Funds, said, “Our talent strategy is a combination of developing and promoting in-house talent like Raji (Rajalakshmi) and Suraj as well as hiring externally like our recent hire of Chandrasekar V as Partner Research from McKinsey and Vijay C. P. as Senior  Associate from Bain & co. in our Technology investments.”

The firm is strengthening its leadership for quite some time now as it roped in Chandrasekar V (Chandra) as partner at the research division, last month.

At the end of last year, TVS Capital Funds also roped in senior executive of ecommerce marketplace Bolt, Kal Raman, as a venture advisor. Besides that, former senior executive of Mahindra Finance, Ramesh Iyer also joined the company’s board, in November, last year

TVS Capital Funds has been investing in growth-stage companies across various sectors. Its portfolio includes investments in Suryoday Small Finance Bank, Indian Energy Exchange, and Nykaa.
