Transport Department Raids TaxiForSure Office, Directs To Suspend Operations In Bangalore

Just a day after raiding Uber’s office, Karnataka Transport Department on Tuesday carried out raids on the taxi aggregator TaxiForSure’s office. The team led by the Transport Joint Commissioner (Bangalore City & Rural) Narendra Holkar raided TaxiForSure’s office in Jayanagar, and ordered the company not to provide its services.

“TaxiForSure has been illegally operating in Bangalore since 2011 by attaching about 3000 taxis. We have directed them to stop offering their app-based services forthwith,“ Holkar said.

The team has taken custody of the firm’s gadgets for studying. Similarly, the team has also communicated Uber to stop their operations in Bangalore, as according to them Uber has been running its operations in the state without an operator’s license since 2013 by tying up with about 3500 taxis.

Co-founder and director of TaxiForsure, Aprameya R, said, “There are aggregators in the other industries. One can book an air or bus ticket and there are rules that govern those aggregators and they are not made liable if something goes wrong. Even we are providing similar platform for the general public to book the taxis.”

Narendra Holkar said , “Any business has to be done within the legal framework as the state already has some regulations regarding aggregators who run taxi business.” However, according to the company, they are already following the 25 guidelines as directed by the transport department. Adding on, the team has also accused TaxiForSure for misleading drivers and forcing them into doing illegal activities.
