Times Network Buys Digit.in To Strengthen Its Footprint In Tech And Gaming

Broadcast and digital network Times Network has acquired Digit.in from 9.9 Group to bolster its digital publishing portfolio further and expand its footprint in the technology and gaming sectors.

Times Network said in a statement on Monday (May 27) that the acquisition encompasses Digit’s print and digital business. 

However, the company did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

Founded in 2001 with the launch of Digit magazine, Digit is a technology media portal. Over the years, it has expanded its presence online through Digit.in. 

The company is also known for several communities, including Digit Squad, a network of tech influencers, and the SKOAR College Gaming Club (SCGC), a premier college gaming community. Collectively, Digit and Digit Squad claim to have a total reach of 180 Mn.

N Subramanian, CEO (new media and investments) of Times Group, said, “We believe Digit fits very well in our overall strategy of building a portfolio of digital products catering to diverse audiences. It will help bring in new audiences to the network.”

Times Network is part of India’s largest media conglomerate, the Times Group. Its brands include news channels Times Now, ET Now, And Mirror Now , among several others. Time Network’s digital publishing business claims to reach over 110 Mn monthly active users, garnering over 1 Bn monthly video views.

The synergy between Digit and Times Network would offer advertisers a robust platform to engage with a tech-savvy audience, said the latter in its statement.

Vikas Gupta, founder and director of 9.9 Group, said that Digit has been India’s technology navigator for the last 24 years and the acquisition by Times Network will propel the company to greater heights. 

“Digit’s offerings will tap into the Times Network’s extensive network, expertise, and legacy, ultimately benefiting our readers and the tech community at large,” said Gupta.
