The Mumbai chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) has announced the launch of ‘TiECON Mumbai 2016’, a entrepreneurial conclave, to be held at Mumbai’s NCPA on January 6 & 7, 2016.

TiECON Mumbai 2016, based on the theme ‘Transformation lead by Disruption’, the conclave aims to bring together entrepreneurs from established economies with emerging economies.

Founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley, TiE currently has over 13,000 members across 18 countries. Worldwide, all chapters of TiE are driven by the common mission of fostering entrepreneurship through mentoring, networking, incubating and funding promising startups and ideas.

TiECON Mumbai 2016 aims to bring together entrepreneurs from established economies with emerging economies. Besides showcasing new entrepreneurial ideas, the larger goal of the conclave is to deliberate on evolving business models and disruptions that have radically transformed the landscape of entrepreneurship.

About 200 startups will get an opportunity to pitch their business ideas before a panel of investors including Ratan Tata (Chairman Emeritus Tata Sons), Harsh Mariwala (Chairman Marico Industries), Ronnie Screwvala (Founder Unilazer Ventures), Ritesh Agarwal (Founder & CEO, OYO Rooms), Kunal Shah (Founder Freecharge), Kunal Bahl (Founder Snapdeal), among others.

Apart from them, over 1,500 delegates comprising Indian and Global CXOs, entrepreneurs, investors, thought leaders and policymakers will also take part in the conclave.

Five of the most innovative startups will be sponsored to visit TiECON Silicon Valley to meet key ecosystem partners.

“We have been able to nurture wealth creation estimated at $200 Bn globally. Our vision at TiE Mumbai is to be the gateway to TiE’s Silicon Valley ecosystem. Unique initiatives such as ‘The Biggest Indian Pitch’ and taking 5 most innovative startups to Silicon Valley will be the first step in this direction,” said Pradeep Udhas, Global TiE Board Member & TiE Mumbai Board Member.

TiECON Mumbai 2016 is partnered by 63 Moons, NASSCOM, Anita Borg Institute, VC Circle, Inc42 and SME Join-up.

Dhanpal Jhaveri, President of TiE Mumbai said, “India ranks 130th amongst 189 countries when it comes to ease of doing business. However, this is set to change as our entrepreneurial ecosystem is witnessing a fundamental shift towards startup friendly policies. We at TiECON Mumbai will continue to contribute to this shift and nurture the thriving entrepreneur ecosystem.”
