With shows like Roadies scoring on the adventurous endeavours, Indian Idol reconceptualizing the music industry, KBC aligning money and knowledge, reality shows have going gung ho on the television screen over the last decade.

But The Pitch is a reality  show with a difference. Hosted by Boman Irani, it has paved the ground for entrepreneurs to go on the big screen. It is a program which includes men who not only possess business ideas, but have the critical skills to successfully execute them. “The program is a locater to identify people with strong entrepreneurial skills and provide them a platform to present their ideas and help them execute them”, UTV Group Chief Executive Officer Ronnie Screwvala told reporters.

Being the brainchild of a joint venture between diversified Indian entertainment Group UTV Software Communications and newswire Bloomberg of the US, it is India’s biggest business reality show with an award of 5 crores from Mumbai angels, the biggest angel investors in Mumbai.

A jury led by Seedfund will select the contestants based not only their visionary ideas but also their excellence in executing them. Stalwarts like Naina Lal Kidwai, Kishore Biyani, N Damodaran, Sasha Mirchandani, Karan Johar have been a part of this show to train the participants how  to deal with the sharks of diverse industries.

Deepak Lamba, Business Head, Bloomberg UTV remarks, “The Pitch has achieved unprecedented success and it is very heartening to see the entrepreneurial talent that exists in our country today. It is even more gratifying to be in a position to give aspiring entrepreneurs such a huge platform to realize their dreams.”

Each week on a fresh episode, a business leader will design and assign business tasks to the participants. The tasks will be designed to challenge the aspirants on the most critical skills required to be a successful entrepreneur and by eliminating the weakest performer.

The Pitch has raised bars for burgeoning entrepreneurs giving brilliant business ideas to overcome the crisis set to them by the leading businessmen of India. The programme is a hunt for the smartest entrepreneur in the country. It has also become the hot seat for critical and analytical business ideas, spreading the knowledge around the country.

The news of The Pitch being aired, Startup Roots got rooted. Once again, entrepreneurial show broadcasted on the screen live. It is a funding initiative started in India which gave equity support to four start-ups. The mechanism of raising funds is completely live, trying to create a difference to the funding ecosystem in India.

Seems like broadcasting entrepreneurship is becoming mainstream in India. The Pitch is successfully running its third season and has been gaining audience ever since.
