Days after its public market debut, foodtech major Swiggy has launched a new service to assist restaurant partners in sourcing kitchen equipment.

In a blogpost, Swiggy said that the kitchen equipment procurement service connects restaurants with reliable vendors, offering appliances that suit their operational needs.

The service aims to simplify the process of acquiring essential kitchen equipment, such as freezers, cookers, microwaves, and chillers, by providing access to trusted suppliers at competitive prices.

To get started, restaurant partners can sign up through the Swiggy Owner app or fill out an online form. Once registered, they will be contacted by vendors to discuss equipment options and make informed decisions based on their needs, the company said.

In the run up to its public listing, Swiggy was on a spree of new launches. This seems to have continued after its public market debut as well, as the company is also said to be looking to launch a number of new offerings.

For instance, the company is reportedly piloting a new services marketplace called ‘Yello’ to connect consumers with professionals like chefs, beauticians, among others.

Recently, it also unveiled an initiative, ‘Seal’, to boost hygiene and food quality standards among its restaurant partners. Besides, it launched Swiggy Bolt for 10-minute food delivery in six cities and Swiggy XL EV fleet for bulk orders in Gurugram.

The company is also piloting a premium membership programme, Rare Club, with annual fees starting from INR 50,000, aimed at high-end consumers.

Meanwhile, Swiggy’s rival Zomato already rolled out a similar restaurant service option earlier this year. The platform helps restaurants plug in various operational requirements like hiring, FSSAI registrations, taxation and trademarking.

Notably, the two companies are competing with each other not only in the foodtech segment but also the fast-growing quick commerce market. Besides, Swiggy is also looking to expand its presence in the events and experience vertical. As part of this, it recently roped in former Lenskart executive Supriya Shankar as the vice president of the vertical

Earlier this year, Zomato acquired the entertainment ticketing business of Paytm for INR 2,048 Cr to grow its ‘going out’ vertical.
