Renowned actor and investor Suniel Shetty has joined hands with Manun Thakur, the founder and CEO of Veda Rehabilitation & Wellness, to launch a mental health app, Lets Get Happi.
The app, which gives 24×7 access to real-time therapy, has been floated to address the pressing need for affordable, inclusive, and stigma-free mental health care, according to a statement released by the company.
Veda Rehabilitation & Wellness is a chain of luxury rehab centres, which has its footprint in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and New Delhi. It offers services like treatment for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders and de-addiction, along with family, group and couples therapies.
Recognising the need to make mental health support universally accessible, anonymous, and affordable, Veda claims to have created the Lets Get Happi app, tailored for individuals (16-35 years of age) living in India’s metropolitan cities.
The app offers a unique blend of in-person and online therapy options, accommodating diverse needs and budgets. It also offers users access to therapy from qualified psychologists 24 hours a day, with features such as guided meditations, journaling, assessments, and more – all integrated into one platform.
According to the company, user anonymity is the bedrock of the Lets Get Happi app’s design philosophy, which helps patients have a safe zone to talk about their mental health.
Commenting on his partnership, Shetty said, “There is a huge gap in the existing landscape of mental health support and Lets Get Happi… provides a safe haven for users to seek anonymous support without the fear of any stigma or judgment. The app is our single-minded commitment to address the blind spot existing in the understanding and acceptance of the social aspects of mental health in India.”
Meanwhile, sharing his vision to create a more compassionate and accessible mental health care landscape in India, Thakur said that he will invest INR 55 Cr over the next three years to scale the platform and offer more solutions.
The app currently offers therapeutic modalities, including audio, video, and chat-based therapy, psychological assessments, journaling, and expert-curated content on wellness topics. Thakur aims to introduce AI, cognitive games, premium content, podcasts, and interactive journaling with its next version expected to be in 2024.
Lets Get Happi is available on both iOS and Android platforms, and has already garnered over 16,000 downloads. The company projects to tap 5,00,000-plus downloads in the next nine months.
In the mental wellness space, Veda Rehabilitation & Wellness competes with startups like Wysa, Trijog, Gratitude, Felicity, and Tatsam Wellness. India’s mental healthcare market (online and offline) according to an estimate is worth $3 Bn.
Shetty is an active investor in the Indian startup ecosystem and has backed multiple startups over the years, including WAAYU, Aquatein, and Klassroom Edutech.
