Pune-based engineering college, Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), has announced that they have selected four startups in the education vertical for its accelerator program, Edugild.
The startups have been selected from over 300 applications received from edtech startups across the country. These startups will undergo a four-month accelerator programme, at Edugild, during which they will receive seed funding of INR15 lakh in exchange of minority stake (upto 10%), access to mentors and testing facilities. They will also be mentored by senior and successful industry leaders who would provide their expertise to encourage the spirit of innovation, challenges and risk-taking.

Pune-based skill focused platform, Classboat helps students to find and select classes, like film making, language learning, health & fitness, among others, in a particular city. It partners with class providers and individual instructors to offer a wide range of classes that users can choose from.

Bangalore-based marketplace for education services, Instafeez brings convenience in the Indian education system by digitising the conventional processes involved. It provides fee payment solution like SmartHub of HDFC Bank, Education Payment of PayTM, eazypay of ICICI Bank, etc.

Delhi-based startup, Simulanis uses 3D gaming and augmented reality based tools for engineering learning. It develops immersive and interactive products and platforms to facilitate learning within the higher education domain, for the students and graduates of technical universities.

Mumbai-based career discovery & assessment platform, Gradopedia is meant for graduates to experience simulated job profiles by watching professionals talk about their exact job profile, analysing themselves by answering technical questions and exploring various career profiles. This would help them make an informed decision about which career path to choose.
Edugild is a startup accelerator programme that is especially focused on the education sector. It is a 16-week residential programme wherein startups are mentored to expedite product development. Selected startups will also get a platform to beta test their products/solutions.
The accelerated startups will be mentored and guided by successful industry leaders like Sanjay Kaul (MD – India and SAARC, Cisco), Rajinish Menon (CIR and Director Startups, Microsoft), Sachin Tagra (Associate VP, Brand Capital), Ajay Ramasubramaniam (Programme Head, Zone Startup India), among others. They will be guided on how to get funding from venture capitalists (VCs), managing business and customer acquisition, setting up the startup and scaling, as well as marketing and growth.
