Meet The 12 Startups Shortlisted For Startupbootcamp Fintech In Singapore

Startupbootcamp FinTech, the global accelerator for fintech startups has announced the 12 international startups that will join its accelerator programme in Singapore. The cohort was selected after a final evaluation from a panel of industry experts and VCs, as per an official statement.

The 12 selected startups cover various aspects of the fintech sector including wealth management, payments, insurance tech. The startups will join over 400 startups that have been accelerated by Startupbootcamp programs globally.

Commenting on the development, Samuel Hall, Program Director at Startupbootcamp FinTech said, “The pull of Singapore as the go-to fintech hub in Asia shows how well the ecosystem here is positioned to support innovation in the financial services sector, and the continued interest in developing fintech businesses here is testament to the work that MAS is doing to support the ecosystem. We look forward to welcoming 12 really exciting companies to Singapore in April, and continuing to lead the way on accelerating early stage fintech companies here in Asia.”

Launched in 2014, Startupbootcamp FinTech is focussed on financial innovation.

What’s In Store For The Selected Startups

The three month long programme that will begin in April, will provide startups with an intense, structured mentorship, masterclasses, partner days and strategic information regarding sales and investment. In addition to that, every startup will receive $25,000 and six months of free office space at the fintech hub, Lattice80. Through the accelerator programme, the startups will benefit from partnerships with MasterCard, CIMB, RHB, DBS, Intesa Sanpaolo, PwC, PixVine Capital, Jungle Ventures, Accreditation@IDA, ThinkZone and SGInnovate that will allow them an access to potential pilot customers, industry data, connectivity, and capital.

Startupbootcamp FinTech Singapore is also backed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) who will provide feedback to the startups on regulatory matters. The accelerator programme will culminate in July with a demo day, where the 12 teams will be invited to present their companies to 500+ investors, mentors, and partners.

The Top 12 Startups Are:

Jumper.ai – The startup works along the lines of ‘everywhere commerce’ and enables users to buy, sell, and collect payments via one unified AI interface. Founded in 2016, the startup allows users to facilitate payments via hashtags and other shortlinks from popular social media handles.

Scalend Technologies – This India-based startup works in the sphere of financial data management and allows users to securely integrate data from different sources, take decisions, get insights, and focus on actively acquiring and engaging with customers in real time. Launched in 2015, the startup harnesses data to generate actionable insights into people’s businesses.

Fugle – Fugle is a Taiwan-based startup that offers services in the area of digital brokerage and investment advice. The startup offers investment-based research at the ease of a click and users can access information about companies, stocks, investments etc.

MostShorted.com – The UK-based startup aims to provide all necessary information regarding short positions in equity markets, currently focusing on hedge fund- and activist shorts. The platform improves a user’s efficiency by collecting and aggregating everything about shorts. It provides live data and send out real time alerts on changes in significant shorts in the EU equity markets. Additionally, it also offers market intelligence in the activist short sector on current and historic activist campaigns and their performances.

Smart Trade – Smart Trade is a Japanese startup that acts as a trading platform and offers web and mobile-based interfaces to develop, use and share AI algorithms. It provides an advanced DIY asset management environment for personal investments as per the market trends.

Tixguru – Tixguru is a Taiwan-based startup that assists users in online financial trading via an AI enabled robotic advisor. Its AI driven algorithm transforms difficult trading decisions into objectives that machines can comprehend.

 

Welltrado – Welltrado is a Lithuania-based P2P lending platform. It offers a metasearch engine and functions as an innovative alternative investment marketplace. It works exclusively with alternative investments, and look for the platforms that offer high returns on investments.

Morakot Technology – Morakot is a Cambodian startup that offers simple and reliable core-banking systems for microfinance institutions and banks. It is a software company that focusses on financial systems. Currently, Morakot has developed a core banking system called “Morakot VB”. This system is suitable for microfinance, cooperatives, leasing companies, and credit unions.

Small Ticket – Based in South Korea, Small Ticket aims to remodel the distribution channels in providing insurance products via its own P2P insurance service platform. The products are disbursed via its own connected groups and controlled risks.

CherryPay – CherryPay is a Taiwanese startup that offers faster and cheaper modes of  international P2P money transfer. It helps its users save high cross-border transfer fees.

AIM – A South Korean startup, AIM offers automated investment services. Its features include a mobile-first robo advisor that helps retail users manage their wealth.

SmartFolios – Based out of Singapore, the startup is an online advisory and investment platform that helps investors to meet their investment goals. SmartFolios offers a broad range of diversified investment portfolios combining financial quantitative research with the unbiased edge of technology and data science.

Earlier in January this year, Startupbootcamp Fintech had announced the names of the top 10 startups that were selected for its first batch in Mumbai. The 10 startups were selected from the Top 20 teams that made it to this round, after a three-and-a-half-months-long scouting phase and nearly 300 applications from roadshows across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
