Whether you are a startup or a billion-dollar company, at any stage, the most crucial aspect of your business will be your ‘Team’. For a founder, his team is not just a group of employees, but a valued possession, without which the story couldn’t have been possible.
Guy Kawasaki, an American marketing specialist, author and Silicon Valley-based venture capitalist talks about two key points for entrepreneurial hiring, in just a 60-second video.
According to Kawasaki, you should always hire better than yourself. If you are an A player, hire A+ player; If you are a B player, hire C player. Great entrepreneurs, great leaders they hire better than themselves. Plus they are secure, they want a great company, they don’t want to be the best person in the company.
The Second thing is sometimes because of your lack of capital, lack of brand awareness, due to competition; you can’t hire people who are obviously better or proven better. Then your role is to make people better. This includes giving them training; showing them the way so that when you end up, you end up with a person who is better than you.
